University of Oregon (UO / Oregon) GPA Calculator

At the University of Oregon every plus adds 0.3, so an A+ is worth 4.3 and GPAs are cut off at two decimals. UO runs on quarter terms. Enter your courses below for your term and cumulative GPA, then see how repeats, first-term forgiveness, the Dean's List and Latin honors work.

Grading system: University of Oregon, A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0, with + adding 0.3 and − subtracting 0.3 (A+ = 4.3). P, N, I, AU, W, X and Y are left out of the GPA.

UO's Quality Points: A+ Is 4.3

Grade Points Grade Points
A+4.3C+2.3
A4.0C2.0
A-3.7C-1.7
B+3.3D+1.3
B3.0D1.0
B-2.7D-0.7
F0

UO's rule is simple: a plus adds 0.3 and a minus subtracts 0.3 for A, B, C and D. That includes the A: an A+ is 4.3, so a UO GPA can go above 4.0. UO truncates GPAs after two decimals rather than rounding.

Example term: 4 credits of A (16.0), 4 of B+ (13.2), 4 of A- (14.8) and 3 of B (9.0) give 53.0 ÷ 15 = 3.533, recorded as 3.53.

Repeats: Every Attempt Counts Since Fall 2019

Since fall 2019, all graded attempts of a UO course count in your term and cumulative GPA, while credit for a non-repeatable course is given only once. Between fall 2016 and summer 2019 only the second grade counted, so older transcripts may follow that rule. Grades from academic misconduct sanctions always stay in.

To model a repeat, enter both attempts as separate rows.

First-Term Grade Forgiveness

New undergraduates get one safety net. In your first term at UO, any F in a course that allows pass/no pass is automatically converted to N, which doesn't count in your GPA. You can ask to change a D to N as well, after meeting an advisor, by the end of the following term.

Watch out: it applies only in your first term, including transfer students' first term, and not to grades tied to a conduct case or to an Incomplete that later defaults to F. You can opt back to the F by the end of the next term.

Pass/No Pass

Where a course allows it, you choose letter grading or P/N at registration and can change only within the allowed period. For undergraduates a P means C- or better; D+ or lower is N. P and N don't count in your GPA, and departments set their own P/N rules for majors.

Dean's List and Latin Honors

The Dean's List is compiled for fall, winter and spring for admitted undergraduates with a term GPA of at least 3.75 on 12 or more letter-graded credits. In spring 2026, 4,610 of about 18,958 undergraduates qualified.

Latin honor Cumulative GPA
Cum laude3.75–3.84
Magna cum laude3.85–3.94
Summa cum laude3.95 or higher

You need at least 90 credits in residence at UO. Because A+ grades are worth 4.3, they can help push a GPA over these cutoffs.

Warning, Probation and Disqualification

Status Trigger
Academic warningTerm GPA from 0.00 to 1.99, even with a 2.00+ cumulative GPA
Academic probationUO cumulative GPA below 2.00, or a third straight term under 2.00 after two warnings
DisqualificationOn probation for a low cumulative GPA and another term GPA below 2.00

Students with 44 or fewer credits get two terms of probation before disqualification; those with more get one. Probation limits you to 15 credits. A term where you withdraw from everything counts as a 0.00 term GPA.
