Drexel's Grade Points
| Grade | Grade points |
|---|---|
| A+ / A | 4.0 |
| A- | 3.67 |
| B+ / B / B- | 3.33 / 3.0 / 2.67 |
| C+ / C / C- | 2.33 / 2.0 / 1.67 |
| D+ / D | 1.33 / 1.0 |
| F | 0.0 |
Two details matter. The A+ earns the same 4.0 as an A, so it cannot lift your GPA, and there is no D-: below a D comes an F. AU (audit), INC, W, CR and NCR carry no grade points. An F that you earned, rather than one assigned administratively, is permanent and cannot be changed.
One GPA Across Your Whole Drexel Career
Drexel runs on 10-week quarter terms and computes GPAs at the end of each term, both for the term and cumulatively. It also keeps a single cumulative GPA that covers all coursework you take at the university, undergraduate and graduate alike. That matters for students in BS/MS programs.
GPA = grade points ÷ credits
Example term: a 4-credit course at A- (14.68), a 3-credit course at B+ (9.99), a 4-credit course at A (16.0) and a 3-credit course at C+ (6.99) give 47.66 ÷ 14 = 3.40.
Repeating a Course Removes the Lower Grade
Since Fall 2021, Drexel undergraduates have a generous repeat policy:
- You can repeat a course in which you earned a C- or lower up to two more times.
- Once you complete it successfully, the lower grade or grades no longer count in your term or cumulative GPA. They still appear on the transcript.
- You can apply this GPA adjustment to as many as 10 courses in your plan of study.
To model a repeat in the calculator, enter only the new grade for that course.
Incompletes and Missing Grades Become Failures
An INC is completed under a written agreement with your instructor. If the grade isn't submitted by the agreed date, it becomes an I/F, a permanent failing grade that counts in your GPA. If an instructor simply doesn't submit a grade, a temporary GNS appears. If it is still unresolved by the last day of classes of the following term, it becomes an N/F, which also counts as a failure. Check your record each term.
Academic Standing and Probation
Drexel reviews standing at the close of every term. Keep both your term and cumulative GPA above 2.0 and you stay in good standing. If either falls below the required level, you are placed on academic probation, and you must meet your adviser to write an academic plan with GPA goals.
Since Fall 2021, undergraduates can spend up to four consecutive terms on probation before academic dismissal, one more than before. On a quarter calendar, that is roughly one academic year.
Graduation Honors
| Honor | Cumulative GPA |
|---|---|
| Cum laude | 3.500–3.699 |
| Magna cum laude | 3.700–3.899 |
| Summa cum laude | 3.900–4.000 |
Honors use your whole Drexel career and are calculated every term, so students graduating in any term receive them. Transfer students need at least 75 credits at Drexel. Honors appear on the diploma and transcript; Drexel does not give out cords for Latin honors. Percentage-based honors apply only at the Kline School of Law, not to undergraduates.

Is an A+ worth more than an A at Drexel?
No. Both an A+ and an A are worth 4.0 grade points.

What GPA is summa cum laude at Drexel?
3.900 to 4.000. Magna cum laude is 3.700 to 3.899 and cum laude 3.500 to 3.699.
How long can I be on probation at Drexel?
Up to four consecutive terms before academic dismissal.
What happens to an incomplete at Drexel?
If the grade is not submitted by the date in your written agreement with the instructor, it becomes an I/F, a permanent failing grade that counts in your GPA.
